Hi, I’m Ivy Morton. I’ve been a member of Redeemer my whole life. To me, Redeemer is about coming together to worship. It’s about fellowship and spirituality, and of course, strengthening my relationship with God.
Redeemer is also about helping out fellow parishioners… Thank you to Mrs. Boedecker for lending me a pair of shoes when I showed up for Friday morning Bible study barefoot. And thank you to Fr. Wood, who after laughing “with me” helped me figure out who had actually texted me to babysit, so I could make it to the next house on time. By the way, Woods, that won’t be the last time I drop by unexpectedly.
Ms. Moe…Ms. Moe introduced me to music. She helped me discover my love for singing and performing. Her encouragement motivated me to get involved in theater in school and she has opened my eyes to possible career paths. Thank you, Ms. Moe.
Redeemer has provided me with life-long friendships. Our senior class has so many shared memories. LOGOS, Confirmation with Fr. Marsden, VBS and being Aides at VBS, EYC, Friday morning Bible study, and Sunday School. I am so thankful for the friendships I have formed here.
Without THIS church and THIS group of parishioners, I never would have found a summer home at Athens Y Camp. Which, if you don’t know, is an amazing Christian Camp. There, I can share my faith with my friends and campers.
There are so many people at Redeemer who have offered me unconditional love and support. I will be forever grateful for all of you. If Christoph hadn’t given us a word limit, I would thank you all individually.
Finally, even though I will be leaving for FSU in the spring, I look forward to Sundays at Redeemer while I am in Sarasota. And for those of you who sat behind us in church, Will and I will continue to annoy each other in the pews of an Episcopal church in Tallahassee.
Thank you, Redeemer.
