COR Senior Address
Good morning everyone! Like you, I’ve spent recent Sunday church services, cozy on the couch, usually with my favorite cup of tea and a dog on my lap. I guess sheltering in place does have its perks!
But today I’m grateful to be standing right here. Church of Redeemer is where I have grown up. It’s where I was baptized, took my first communion, and was confirmed. It’s also where I regularly connected and worshiped alongside my friends and church family. This has been my second home, a place where my faith has been formed and continues to grow. I owe a debt of gratitude to so many in this congregation. Father Wood, thank you for all the fun EYC memories, and I’ll never forget the mission trip to Miami. Thank goodness we got that door off the hinges! Janet Trefry, you have been not only my confirmation sponsor but an ongoing source of guidance and support. Britt Riner your prayers and advice have been invaluable this past year. Thank you!
I am grateful for all the trips to the Dominican Republic & Saint Michael’s conference, and the clergy and chaperones that made it all possible.
I’d like to thank Christoph, especially for making these recent weeks a little more bearable with fun zoom meetings and hang out sessions.
Last but not least, I am deeply appreciative of all I have gained by working alongside Dr. Ann Stephenson-Moe, as a choir scholar. How do you thank a person who has given so much of herself? This remarkable lady has been taught me grace, patience and humility, not to mention the fact that there’s always an occasion for 6-inch stilettos or free time for a quick marathon. I will miss you and our time together.
In the fall I will attend the University of Florida to study environmental science. Thank you to all who have encouraged me over the years. I hope to visit often but I know I will always take a little part of you all with me wherever I go!
