Register for In-Person Worship (at a reduced capacity)

Dear Redeemer Family:

We recently received news from the Bishop that we will be able to resume in-person worship (at a reduced capacity) Sunday, 31 May, the Day of Pentecost. This is wonderful news!

100 pre-registered persons will be allowed at each mass.

Beginning this Tuesday, 26 May at 3:00 PM, you may register online (below) or by calling the parish office (after 3:00 PM). We will also be sending an email Tuesday with the registration link and other important details about some changes you will notice as in-person worship resumes. Please take time to read the email when it arrives so you will be familiar with the many important safety measures we are putting in place.

This reduced capacity means that space may not be available at the time you usually attend. If you usually go the Saturday evening vigil mass at 5:30 PM and it’s full, try eleven o’clock on Sunday (or 7:30 AM Sunday morning). And don’t worry about liturgical preference right now. We will temporarily (and only temporarily!) be offering basically the same liturgy at each mass so that everyone who wants to worship has an opportunity to worship. This liturgy, which we’re calling “The Parish Mass,” will incorporate elements from the full liturgical breadth of the parish, will completely follow the Book of Common Prayer, and will be something everyone finds familiar, warm, dignified, and transformative. We will most likely continue rotating every other week between Rite One and Rite Two, as we have been doing online since in-person worship was suspended. This, too, is temporary.

As we re-convene for in-person worship, please don’t think that having basically the same liturgy at each mass is a downgrade or an attempt to take away anything from the mass you usually attend. I personally believe The Parish Mass will be first class all the way! We are all being asked to make small sacrifices as to personal liturgical preference temporarily – just as we have since we’ve been exclusively online. I recognize this is hard, but it’s the right thing to do in the short term. One day (hopefully soon) we will go back to our old diet (the contemporary vigil mass on Saturday, a low, spoken mass at 7:30 on Sunday, and so on).

For now, however, let us all allow the privilege and joy of being able to worship together again eclipse anything that is a temporary liturgical irritant.

As I write these words, I also realize many in our parish family will not return at this time. If you are considered at-risk, you should think twice about returning at this time: there is no pressure to return. In-person worship is available, not a requirement. Every parishioner and visitor needs to do what he or she determines is safe and best, given individual circumstances. Whatever you choose, your decision will be respected. The world needs less shame, not more. If you need the Sacrament brought to you, please call the parish office.

These have been trying times indeed. But as I’ve said before: rest assured Jesus is alive and well. And this, too, shall pass.

Your servant,

Fr. Charleston
Priest-in-Charge

  •        Mass in the nave will be temporarily limited to 100 persons, including choir and clergy. Pre-registration is required to attend.
  •        To maintain safe-distancing and prevent overcrowding, pre-registration is required. Above, click on your preferred mass to register. If your first selection is full, please try alternatives. Please present your registration confirmation to the ushers upon entering the church. To register by calling the parish office, please call 941.955.4263.
  •        Weekday masses do not require pre-registration and will resume on 1 June at 10:00 AM. Our daily mass schedule is as follows: Monday – Saturday: 10 AM, with additional masses offered on Wednesdays at 7:30 AM, and Thursdays at  5:30 PM. Daily morning and evening prayer will remain online for now.
    • If you are considered “at-risk,” we ask you to remember your safety, and the safety of others.
    • Thermal forehead thermometers may be in use.
  •        Masks are highly recommended at all times while you are in the church.
  •        What about bringing my children to mass? Children are always welcome at mass; however, we are not re-opening our nurseries, Sunday School, or on-site children’s formation programs at this time. Our online campus continues to provide formation for all ages. Click here for this week’s offerings.
  •        The Eucharist will be offered in one kind only (the Consecrated Bread), and the host will be dropped into your hands from the chancel steps without the priest touching you. The celebrant will sanitize his hands before the Eucharistic Prayer and afterwards. You may still wish to practice spiritual communion, even though you physically attend the mass. Detailed instructions about how to receive Communion while maintaining safe-distancing will be provided at each mass.
  •        Hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout campus.
  •        We will sanitize the entire nave and chancel after each liturgy.
  •        Please keep in mind these guidelines may change.
    • We will continue to live-stream the mass at 9:00 AM. You may watch it live by clicking here, and you may watch it anytime afterwards by clicking here. It is also available on our You Tube channel here.
    • We will be working hard in the coming days to safely resume some on-site activities. For now, however, worship will be our focus.
