Marsha Devitt
Vestry Member
Marsha Farrell Devitt is a lifelong member of Redeemer. Baptized by The Very Reverend Paul Reeves in 1962, Marsha’s journey at Redeemer has been marked by significant milestones, including her Confirmation under the tenure of The Reverend Thomas Fitzgerald in 1972 and her marriage to Steve Devitt by The Very Reverend Jack Iker in 1989. All four of her adult children—Elizabeth, Reid, Graham, and Caroline—are proud members of the Redeemer family.
Marsha has served as the Director of the Altar Guild, the Wedding Coordinator, a member of the St. Scholastica Grants Committee, the chair of the Grown and Flown ministry for parents of children who have “flown the nest,” and the chair of Redeemer’s Night to Shine event, a prom-night experience that celebrates people with special needs.
Marsha served for 30 years as a Sunday School teacher and held leadership roles in Vacation Bible School, LOGOS, and the Friday Morning Bible Study for Middle School Girls. She has been involved in several Redeemer committees, including Facilities, Disaster Relief, Evangelism, and Strategic Visioning.
In her early career, she served as a Marketing Representative for Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund, organizing events and collaborating with legal professionals across 22 counties in Florida. Marsha’s volunteer work extends to schools, the Junior League of Sarasota, and fundraising committees for cultural institutions, including The Ringling Museum and The Florida Center for Early Childhood Development.
Marsha was honored as Redeemer’s Volunteer of the Year by The Reverend Fred Robinson in 2020. She received the St. Benedict’s Service Award from The Reverend Charleston Wilson in 2021.
As Marsha continues her journey at Redeemer, she envisions a parish that steadfastly serves the community, provides formational opportunities for all age groups, evangelizes to those seeking God, and engages in meaningful outreach in Sarasota and beyond.
