Bryan De Rover was born in Amsterdam, the son of an airline family. He went to school in the Netherlands, Bahrain, Kenya, and the United States. He grew up around the metro Washington, D.C. area. Bryan served in the Royal Netherlands Army during the Persian Gulf War. He worked in administration at the Associated Press office on K Street in Washington, D.C., during the President Bill Clinton administration.

Bryan’s cousin, Jolanda de Rover, won a gold and bronze medal in the backstroke at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. There are two published books on the history of his family. In his free time, Bryan enjoys painting, reading, listening to music, and riding his bike.
