Grier Ferguson was born in Atlanta, and grew up in Sarasota. After earning a degree in journalism with a minor in leadership from the University of Florida, she worked at an advertising, public relations and marketing agency in Sarasota as an account executive and copywriter. She then worked as a freelance writer and editor, creating content for corporations, communications agencies and nonprofit clients. Most recently, Grier was the Sarasota-Manatee editor of the Business Observer newspaper. In that role, she interviewed corporate and community leaders and wrote articles about entrepreneurs, executives and businesses in a variety of industries, from construction and hospitality to retail and agriculture. She has received several Florida Press Association awards for her work.
Grier is an active member of the Junior League of Sarasota, currently serving as the administrative assistant to the board of directors. She is also a member of the Sarasota Fiction Writers, and was president of the organization in 2020. Grier has been a member and chorister at the Church of the Redeemer since elementary school.
She joins the Redeemer team the first week in Eastertide.
