Episcopal Thrift House Provides $47,000 in Grants to Area Charities

The Episcopal Thrift House provided $47,000 in grants to local charities in 2021 thanks to the generosity of donors and hard work of volunteers. This is a big accomplishment, considering most items at the shop are $5. A huge thank you to those who are faithful in their donations and support!

The grant recipients are:
-Angel Flight Southeast
-Baby Basics
-Alta Vista Elementary School Summer Meal Program
-Dance — The Next Generation, Educational Grant
-Good Samaritan Pharmacy & Health Services
-Genesis Health Services & Dentistry
-Mothers Helping Mothers
-Sarasota Medical Pregnancy Center
-The Foundation That Love Built
-Safe Children Coalition
-Redeemer’s St. Scholastica Grants Program for teachers
-Horse Power for Veterans — SMART (Sarasota Manatee Association for Riding Therapy)
-Diocese of Southwest Florida

You can be part of this team that gives back — the Episcopal Thrift House needs more volunteers! Currently, the Thrift House has only two afternoon shifts staffed, so the shop is missing out on a lot of customers. Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons are begging for help. Each shift is just three hours. Three people work each shift. Contact Volunteer Coordinator/Co-Manager Cathie Meyer at CathieDMeyer@Gmail.com or 941-374-6046.

We hope you’ll shop and donate at the Episcopal Thrift House regularly! The shop is open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The Thrift House is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

The Episcopal Thrift House is in downtown Sarasota at 1503 Second Street. For more information, please call 941-365-1519.
