Redeemer has a three-part approach to helping those in our area impacted by Hurricane Ian. Continue reading to learn about the spiritual, economic, and physical ways Redeemer is coordinating Hurricane Ian relief and how you can get involved with these efforts.

Pray

  • We’re asking all Redeemer parishioners to pray the prayer below every day. Printed copies of this prayer are available in the narthex and parish office to take with you:

Prayer for All Who Suffer: Gracious God, the comfort of all who sorrow, the strength of all who suffer: Let the cry of those in misery and need come to you, especially those affected by Hurricane Ian, that they may find your mercy present with them in all their afflictions; and give us, we pray, the strength to serve them for the sake of him who suffered for us, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Adapted from The Book of Common Prayer, page 279)

  • Come pray with us. Attend Morning Prayer at 9 a.m. Mondays-Saturdays, Evening Prayer at 5:15 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, and the 10 a.m. mass Mondays-Saturdays. Now is the time to come together and attend these services. Challenge yourself to join us at least once a week. Invite a friend or neighbor to come with you. Special prayers for those impacted by Hurricane Ian will be said at these services.
  • Do you have a prayer request? Click here to share how we can pray for you. Redeemer is organizing prayer teams that will work together to pray for these needs. We will also have printed prayer request forms available on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Look for the Hurricane Ian Relief table in front of the church on Sunday morning.

Give

  • Donate to Redeemer’s Hurricane Ian Relief Fund. Parishioners Eliza & Hugh Culverhouse will match the first $50,000 raised. This means your gift has twice the impact. Redeemer dollars will be used to assist our own parishioners with their needs since we have many parishioners in impacted areas. Click here to donate to this fund through our website. You can also send a check to the parish office (222 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236). Please note “Hurricane Ian Relief” in the memo line.
  • At this time, Redeemer’s financial contributions will prioritize our own parishioners who have been impacted by Hurricane Ian. We will offer broader assistance as we are able.
